Osvaldo “Ovi” Vento is the President and CEO of Everglades Lumber & Building Supply, one of the largest suppliers of building materials in South Florida. Since 1998, under the leadership of Vento, Everglades Lumber has quadrupled its sales and won the Latin Builders Association (LBA) “Supplier of the Year” award in both 2000 and 2002. In addition, Everglades Lumber has made the Top 100 National Construction Suppliers list [Pro Sales Magazine, May 2000] and the Top 100 Hispanic Entrepreneurs list [Hispanic Magazine, April 2002] and was named the “Fastest Growing Latino Business” by Latino Magazine in June 2002. In March of 2002, Vento led a management buyout of Everglades Lumber, once again returning ownership of the company to his family.

Vento has been active in the LBA for 25 years and is the current President-Elect. In addition to serving the LBA through his presidency, Vento has been working behind the scenes to ensure that the LBA is prepared to meet the needs and visions of future construction professionals. Vento is also a Director of the YMCA, a member of the Orange Bowl Committee, a member of the Kiwanis of Little Havana, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Vento graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, Florida. Vento holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, a Master’s Degree in Accounting and is also a Certified Public Accountant.
